Yerköprü Waterfall (in Turkish: Yerköprü Şelalesi): a treasure hidden in the chalk rocks of Turkey.
Not far from the province of Mersin, in Turkey, a real natural masterpiece is hidden - the Yerköprü waterfall, listed among the protected natural monuments. The name, translated as "earth bridge", only hints at the beauty that awaits you in this secluded corner. Located north of the village of Kuskan, near Gülnar and Mut, the waterfall seems to emerge from the depths of chalk rocks, whose age is about 110 million years.
The path to the waterfall is an adventure in itself. After a recent landslide, the road to it was rebuilt, and now visitors descend to the natural wonder along a winding wooden staircase with 184 steps, descending from the bridge over the crystal-clear Ermenek stream - a tributary of the Göksu River. This descent is already a premonition of the beauty that opens up from the bridge - a breathtaking panoramic view of the canyon.
Yerköprü is not just a waterfall, it's a whole ecosystem. Water, originating from an underground tunnel about 250 meters long, seeps through limestone rocks, enriching itself with minerals and creating a truly fantastic color of water. Its water does not just cascade down: from a height of 30 meters, it flows through millennia-old stalactites covered in moss.
The park around the waterfall is a lush greenery, winding paths, and the purest air. Numerous gazebos invite you to rest, and springs - to refresh. Silence and tranquility reign here, broken only by the rustling of leaves and the murmur of water.
What awaits you in Yerköprü:
- Breathtaking views: Photos can't capture the full beauty of this place!
- Solitude: There are relatively few tourists here, which adds charm to this place.
