Tarsus Zoo

In total, 30 kilometers from Mersin, in the Tarsus district, a real oasis of wildlife has spread - a spacious and well-groomed zoo with an area of 0.11 km². The history of this zoo began in 1999 with a small collection of animals in the city center. Thanks to the efforts of animal advocates concerned about cramped conditions, the zoo found a new, spacious home and opened its doors to visitors in 2013.

Forget about cramped cages! At the Tarsus Zoo, animals live in spacious enclosures where they have enough space for a comfortable life. Here you will meet more than 80 species of animals, from fluffy chickens and graceful peacocks to mighty lions and a pack of wolves. And quite recently, the collection was replenished with a zebra, and soon the arrival of an elephant and a giraffe is expected! The animals are kept in excellent conditions, they are carefully cared for, so the animals look lovely!

Take a stroll along the picturesque alleys of the zoo and admire the pink flamingos, graceful swans, playful grizzly bear cubs, and little lynxes. Don't miss the charming lambs and deer, as well as the majestic eagles, owls, and vultures living in special enclosures among the rocks.

A real surprise for young visitors is a real ship, inside which a free aquarium with amazing marine life is hidden. And after getting acquainted with the underwater world, you can head to the playground located opposite the picturesque pond.

The zoo has created all the conditions for a comfortable stay: a cozy park area with benches, a cafe where you can have a snack, and restrooms.

It's worth remembering: feeding animals in the zoo is prohibited, so feed is not sold here. You can get to the zoo by bus or minibus. The zoo is open from 9:00 to 17:00 (in summer until 18:00).

Tarsus Zoo is an ideal place for family recreation, where you can spend the whole day enjoying communication with nature and learning a lot about the animal world.

We highly recommend visiting!
