The authorities of the Republic of Turkey have simplified the process of obtaining citizenship for foreigners.
The corresponding decree by the head of state, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was published in the government gazette Resmi Gazete on September 19.
The document notes that the fixed capital required to qualify for Turkish citizenship will be reduced from two million to five hundred thousand euros. The minimum real estate value required for foreigners to acquire Turkish citizenship will also be reduced from one million to four hundred thousand euros. Furthermore, changes have been made to the requirement that foreigners employ at least one hundred people. Now, employing at least fifty workers is sufficient to qualify for Turkish citizenship. The amount of deposits required in Turkish banks to obtain citizenship will also be reduced from three million to five hundred thousand euros.
