In total, 30 kilometers from Mersin, in the Tarsus area, a real oasis of wildlife is spread - a spacious and well -groomed zoo with an area of 0.11 km². The history of this zoo began in 1999 with a small collection of animals in the city center. Thanks to the efforts of animal defenders, worried about the close conditions of detention, the zoo found a new, spacious house and opened its doors for visitors in 2013.
Forget about cramped cells! In the Tarsus zoo, animals live in spacious enclosures, where they have enough space for a comfortable life. Here you will find more than 80 species of animals, from fluffy chicken and graceful peacocks to mighty lions and flocks of wolves. And more recently, the collection was replenished with a zebra, and soon the arrival of an elephant and a giraffe is expected! Animals are kept in excellent conditions, they carefully care for them, and therefore animals look lovely!
Take a walk along the picturesque alleys of the zoo and admire the pink flamingos, graceful swans, frolic cubs of grizzly and small trot. Do not miss charming lambs and deer, as well as majestic eagles, owls and vultures living in special aviaries among rocks.
A real surprise for small visitors will be a real ship, inside which a free aquarium is hidden with amazing marine inhabitants. And after meeting the underwater world, you can go to the playground located opposite the picturesque reservoir.
All the conditions for a comfortable vacation are created in the zoo: a cozy park area with benches, a cafe where you can have a bite, toilets.
It is important to remember: it is forbidden to feed animals in the zoo, so the food is not sold here. You can get to the zoo by bus or route taxi. The zoo is open from 9:00 to 17:00 (in the summer until 18:00).
The Tarsus Zoo is an ideal place for a family vacation where you can spend all day, enjoying communication with nature and learning a lot about the animal world.
We highly recommend visiting!
