INCOME MERSIN answer

Is it necessary to change the TAPU if the foreign passport was replaced after the property was registered?

No, you do not need to change your TAPU when you replace your passport.

Important to know

  • The passport number is not indicated in the TAPU
  • Changing your passport does not affect your ownership rights

Please note

  • The transliteration of the first and last name in the new passport must completely match the data in the TAPU (previous passport)
  • If your first or last name has changed (for example, after marriage or divorce), you must:
    • provide supporting documents
    • the document must be apostilled
    • submit it to the Turkish Land Registry Office for amendments

Such replacement of TAPU is not subject to taxes; only the state fee is paid.
