Jerkepryu waterfall - Yerköprü

Jerkepryu waterfall (in Turkish: Yerköprü şelesi): a treasure hidden in the Cretaceous rocks of Turkey.

Not far from the province of Mersin, in Turkey, a real natural masterpiece is hidden - the Jerkepryu waterfall, included in the list of protected natural monuments. The name translated as the "earthen bridge" only hints at the beauty that awaits you in this secluded corner. Located north of the village of Kuskan, not far from Gulnar and Muta, the waterfall seems to emerge from the depths of chalk rocks, the age of which has about 110 million years.

The path to the waterfall itself is an adventure. After the recent landslide, the road to him was rebuilt, and now visitors descend to the miracle of nature along a winding wooden staircase, which has 184 steps, descending from the bridge over the crystal clean stream of Ermenec - the tributary of the Göksu River. This descent is already an anticipation of beauty, which opens from the bridge - an exciting panoramic view of the canyon.

Yerkepreu is not just a waterfall, it is a whole ecosystem. Water, originating in an underground tunnel with a length of about 250 meters, seeps through limestone breeds, enriched with minerals and creating truly a fantastic color of water. Its water does not just turn down: from a height of 30 meters, it flows through a thousand -year -old stalactites covered with moss.
The park around the waterfall is a riot of greenery, winding paths and clean air. Numerous gazebos invite to rest, and springs to refreshment. Silence and peace reign here, violated only by the rustle of foliage and the murmur of water.
